Maestro

Francesco Bavastrelli

He is a contemporary visual artist known for his eclectic exploration of abstraction and the narrative influence of new painting trends. His work revolves around two distinct trends, united by his expressive and powerful use of color.
Gesture-Material Abstraction: This movement explores the inner world through spontaneous gestures, overlapping stains, and drips. His works explore the tension between color and material, exerting a powerful emotional impact. His research draws on the great Italian abstract artists of the 20th century, as my upcoming project, "Astratta Italia 26," will demonstrate, evolving into a new, highly free-form abstraction reflecting complexity and speed.

Francesco Bavastrelli borrows icons of popular culture and classical archetypes, reinterpreting them with irony and an urban aesthetic. Through the use of sharp contours, saturated colors, and shapes, the artist comments on topics such as the commercialization of imagery. The painter uses the canvas as a meeting point between pure emotion and social manifesto, encouraging the viewer to savor form and color as direct carriers of emotion. His art is a constant dialogue between Italian artistic heritage and the unbridled energy of abstract popular culture.
